Thinking about a fitness holiday to one of the world’s top fitness destinations? Let me introduce you to “Fitness Street.” In this guide, I’ll give you a quick rundown of what to expect when you visit this iconic spot. Fitness Street is a unique 1.5 km stretch, packed with over a dozen fitness camps, healthy cafés and restaurants, as well as accommodations tailored to active lifestyles.
As the person who coined the name “Fitness Street,” I’m here to ensure you’ve got the best tips for planning your training adventure. Fun fact—my original video series about this place was called the “Soi Vlog,” as it was locally known as “the Soi.” But I thought “Fitness Street” had a better ring to it and perfectly captured the vibe of this incredible destination, making it easier to share with the world.
One of the biggest mistakes people make before coming here is booking an all-inclusive ‘fitness retreat package’ that bundles food, accommodation, and training together. While it might seem convenient for avoiding any planning, you’ll end up spending thousands more than necessary.
I’m not here to make any money from Fitness Street—I’m here to share my 8 years of insider knowledge so you can save money and still have an unforgettable experience. This is all about my passion for fitness and helping others achieve their goals. Fitness Street is a 100% passion project for me and I receive zero kick-backs from any of the businesses or gyms mentioned in my content 😊
If your main goal for visiting Fitness Street is to lose fat and get into the best shape of your life, here’s a pro tip from someone who’s coached hundreds of guys through my online coaching services: take photos of your physique (front, side, and rear) before you start your Fitness Street adventure. These will act as a visual record of your transformation and keep you motivated along the way.
When you arrive on Fitness Street, I strongly recommend getting a body composition analysis done. Unit 27 offers scans with state-of-the-art technology that goes far beyond just measuring your weight. You’ll get a detailed breakdown of your body fat percentage, muscle mass, hydration levels, and metabolic rate—essential metrics for anyone serious about fitness. It costs around 1,000 Baht and they provide a comprehensive print-out that serves as your baseline. At the end of your trip, you can repeat the scan to see exactly how much progress you’ve made. It’s an invaluable tool for maximising your results and staying focused on your goals!
In the video below, I take you through my 2-month transformation journey on Fitness Street. I’ll share how my physique, performance, and mental health evolved during this time, along with my results from the body composition machine at Unit 27.
Where is Fitness Street Located?
It’s about a 40-minute taxi ride from Phuket International Airport. To make things easier, you can find it on Google Maps by clicking here. The street’s name in Thai is Soi Taied. Below, you’ll find a handy map 🙂 The red-marked areas highlight some of the training camps along Fitness Street—and new ones seem to pop up every month! (Click the image below for a closer look.)
The simplest way to reach Fitness Street from the airport is by taxi, which typically costs between 1,000 and 1,200 Baht one way. However, to save a bit of money, I recommend reaching out to Ream Ratsamee via Facebook. She’ll arrange a ride for about 600 Baht. Just let your driver know you’re heading to “Fitness Street” or “Soi Taied”—most will recognise it. As a backup, mention “the same street as Tiger Muay Thai,” and you’ll be sorted 🙂
The Fitness Street Community
Fitness Street is quickly becoming one of the world’s premier fitness destinations. Here, you’ll meet people from all corners of the globe, sharing the experience of training, eating, relaxing at the beach, and even enjoying a night out together. It’s a melting pot of energy and culture!
Below is a snapshot of people from dozens of countries 😊. You will never feel alone here… even if you travel here as a solo traveller!
For a unique experience, check out the boat parties hosted by the Island Social Hub. They’ve done an incredible job of keeping the Fitness Street crowd entertained—I highly recommend giving them a go 😊. You can meet many of these incredible humans in the official Fitness Street Facebook group. Come and join us 🙂
Fitness Street attracts a wonderfully diverse group, from individuals looking to quit smoking or drinking to those working towards better health, strength, and fitness. You’ll find elite MMA fighters, Muay Thai practitioners, and CrossFit athletes honing their skills here. Training alongside this crowd is truly inspiring. Here’s another community snapshot:
I’ve had the privilege of filming many training sessions of professional athletes, and watching them in action has motivated me to push harder in my own training. This “training effect” will undoubtedly rub off on you too. The more time you spend training alongside world-class athletes, the closer you’ll get to achieving your own fitness goals. If you’re ready to level up and surround yourself with winners (yes, actual world champions!), Fitness Street is the place to be. And no, you do not need to be an athlete to come here. This place is for everyone!
Below is a photo snapshot of some of the UFC athletes who train here regularly… sometimes spotted eating at the same healthy eating bars and restaurants that you’ll be eating at 🙂
I’ve even filmed some of Petr Yan’s sessions while he was preparing for UFC 280. Chasing him around with my GoPro camera to capture the best angles was a workout in itself—he’s incredibly fast! 😅
I had the incredible opportunity to document soon-to-be world champion Arman Tsarukyan’s training camp right here on Fitness Street (you can check out his training sessions that I filmed here and here). After one of his gruelling workouts, we all made our way to Karon Beach for some well-earned downtime (see photo below). Arman and I even shared a jet ski and explored the stunning Phuket coastline—an unforgettable experience!
Amateur athletes love training at the many fitness camps along the street, and Friday nights often see them gathering at Ali’s BBQ for a post-workout treat like protein ice cream. Fitness Street truly is a global hub, attracting people from Ireland, Spain, Australia (of course!), Iceland, Russia, Japan, Hong Kong, the Maldives—you name it. I even trained with someone from the Maldives at Unit 27, though I can’t quite recall his name!
If you’re travelling solo, Fitness Street is perfect for you. There’s a vibrant community of solo travellers here, and if you’re feeling unsure, just join the Fitness Street Facebook group. It’s a welcoming space to ask about budgeting, accommodation, gym options, and more. You’ll find plenty of like-minded fitness enthusiasts ready to help.
For a glimpse into the lives of some of the incredible people I’ve met and trained with along Fitness Street, check out the interviews I’ve done over the years (click the links below):

Fitness Street: Not Just for Athletes!
While I spend a lot of time filming and training alongside amateur and professional athletes, Fitness Street is for everyone—including those just starting their fitness journey. Many people come here with the sole aim of losing weight and getting into shape, without any interest in CrossFit or martial arts. Don’t just take my word for it—check out these inspiring interviews with everyday people achieving incredible results on Fitness Street.
Here’s Piotrek from Poland, who started his journey at 130 kg. After 7 months of training here, he’s down to 98 kg! His transformation is proof that anyone can make a change with the right mindset and environment.
Meet Lewis—a man determined to get into the best shape of his life. He’s spending 2-3 months training at Tiger Muay Thai, and his story is just one of many like it on Fitness Street.
One of the most inspiring transformations I’ve witnessed is Rosie and Alex. Over 12 months of training here, they’ve completely transformed their lives. In this interview, they share the highs and lows of their journey, and now Rosie has even become a fitness coach here on Fitness Street!

Travel Insurance for Fitness Street
If you’re in the process of planning your journey to Fitness Street and are interested in the travel insurance I personally rely on, click here to learn more. This coverage comes at a daily rate of $1.90 but has the potential to safeguard you from substantial medical expenses in the event of an injury during your fitness adventure.
For 99% of people who come here, you’ll have the time of your life and will leave without any medical issues. However, in 8 years of training out here, I have seen the occasional scooter accident, food poisoning event, or injury, which has cost many thousands of dollars in medical expenses. Don’t be that person setting up a GoFundMe page to try and raise money to get medevac’d off this island. I see it time and time again… just get some kind of travel insurance.
A guy that I knew suffered a severe staph infection, almost lost his life, and required a medivac to Australia for emergency surgery. He had to pay $13,000 AUD in accrued medical expenses before being allowed to leave Thailand on a private medical charter back to Australia for emergency surgery. His friends had posted on his Instagram account trying to raise $150,000 to fund the cost of this medical charter. This guy did not have medical insurance! He ended up surviving and is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
As mentioned, I pay $57 USD per month, which equates to $1.90 per day. It’s a very small price to pay for peace of mind. You can turn it on and off at any time (no contracts). Don’t risk it… Click here to learn more about my travel insurance provider for training on Fitness Street (and yes, they cover combat sports but NOT if conducted professionally).

In this quick guide, I will share with you my experience training at Unit 27.
Unit 27: A Fitness Powerhouse
Strolling down Fitness Street, you can’t miss Unit 27. With its bold “Go Hard or Go Home!” signage and electric atmosphere, it’s far more than just another gym—it’s the ultimate hub for strength and conditioning, CrossFit, Hyrox training, and functional fitness.
The facilities are second to none, featuring Primal Fitness, a state-of-the-art bodybuilding gym, alongside premium recovery options like a Swedish sauna, ice baths, and even the Trooper Eats restaurant, where you can refuel with high-protein meals, including their famous protein pancakes!
Below is a snapshot of the food you can get at Trooper Eats after training at Unit 27 🙂
A Gym for All Fitness Levels
Walking into Unit 27 might feel a little intimidating at first, especially as you see others smashing through intense classes. But don’t worry—this gym is for everyone, from seasoned CrossFitters with hundreds of classes under their belts to complete beginners aiming to shed weight and build confidence.
Below is an image snapshot of the kind of members that visit Unit 27 🙂
If you’re just starting out, Unit 27 offers beginner-friendly classes like:
- Morning Glory
- Kalorie Killa
For experienced athletes and those who thrive on intense workouts, try:
- Death Row
- Grenade
- The Punisher
Some of their most popular classes include Tour de Unit (perfect if you love assault bikes!), Sink Oar Swim, and, of course, Kalorie Killa. For the latest information on classes, see their timetable here.
Check out a video I filmed of the Tour de Unit class:
Hyrox Training Now Available
Unit 27 has also introduced Hyrox classes, a game-changer for those focused on functional fitness and endurance. These classes skip the Olympic lifts and gymnastics, making them an excellent choice for anyone looking to mix up their routine. As someone preparing for my first Hyrox event in the Men’s Pro division in March 2025, I can’t wait to give these classes a try—let me know if you do first!
Where to Stay
Many Unit 27 members stay at Cocoville, just a short 5-minute walk from the gym. Their Raw Fitness Menu is perfect for fuelling your workouts, and the serene setting makes it a top choice. If Cocoville is fully booked (especially during the high season from December to February), consider their sister resorts:
Both offer the same excellent menu and are about a 15-minute walk from Unit 27. For a closer option, try Blue Hotel with its stunning infinity pool, or Signature Resort, both of which are a short walk away.
For budget-friendly stays, Forest Bungalows (8,000 THB/month) or Sawasdee Villa and Khaonoi Bungalows (5,000 THB/month) are great choices.
While Unit 27 doesn’t offer martial arts classes, it’s an absolute must-visit for those prioritising CrossFit, Hyrox preparation, or functional fitness. Whether you’re here to train hard, recover well, or connect with a vibrant fitness community, Unit 27 delivers an unmatched experience on Fitness Street.
Follow them on Instagram for updates, class highlights, and a peek into the action. Ready to join the movement? Unit 27 is waiting for you! Let’s gooo!
Tiger Muay Thai
Tiger Muay Thai on Fitness Street is, without a doubt, one of the most incredible places in the world for fitness and martial arts training. I’ve been training there since 2017, and it’s been a game-changer for my fitness journey and overall mindset. Whether you’re stepping into a Muay Thai ring for the first time or looking to sharpen your skills as a pro fighter, this place has it all.
The diversity of training options is unreal—traditional Muay Thai classes, MMA, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, strength and conditioning, yoga, and even specialised classes like beginner sessions or all-level Jiu-Jitsu. The coaches are some of the best in the industry, with professional fighters and seasoned trainers guiding you every step of the way. They’ll push you to your limits while making sure you’re learning proper technique and having fun along the way.
Below is a walking tour of the famous Tiger Muay Thai.
What makes Tiger Muay Thai stand out even more is its incredible community. You’ll meet people from all over the world—solo travellers, fitness enthusiasts, beginners, and professional athletes—who come here to train, challenge themselves, and enjoy the unique atmosphere of Fitness Street. The camaraderie is real, and it’s easy to make lifelong friends while sharing the grind of intense training sessions.
If you are new to Fitness Street, I highly recommend doing a day or week pass and trying all of the classes. They run beginner Muay Thai classes where you’ll be with people from all around the world learning Muay Thai for the first time. In the video below, you’ll get to see what the beginner class looks like:
Whether you’re looking to lose weight, learn a new skill, prepare for a fight, or just immerse yourself in a health-focused lifestyle, Tiger Muay Thai is the ultimate destination. For me, it’s been a place of growth, transformation, and countless unforgettable experiences. If you’ve ever thought about taking your fitness to the next level, this is where it all happens!
One of my favourite activities that Tiger Muay Thai hosts is the famous ‘Big Buddha Run’ (or walk!). To learn more about this experience, click below to watch the video.

Dragon Muay Thai
Dragon Muay Thai is one of my favourite camps on Fitness Street. It is the ultimate training camp for anyone looking to experience authentic Muay Thai in Thailand’s tropical paradise. Whether you’re a complete beginner, a seasoned fighter, or simply someone wanting to get fitter, Dragon Muay Thai has something for you. I’ve done many private Muay Thai classes here with Kru Marn and Kru Yai and highly recommend both of them.
It’s really easy to organise a private Muay Thai class. Simply walk down Fitness Street, find Kru Marn or Kru Yai at Dragon Muay Thai, and ask to book a private session. I was paying about 600–700 Baht per session, which is great value. No prior experience is needed, and I highly recommend these classes if you want to learn the fundamentals of Muay Thai in a fun and supportive environment.
If you’d like to see what a typical private Muay Thai class at Dragon looks like, have a watch of the video below.
Fitness Street: Places to Eat
There’s no shortage of fantastic places to grab a “clean calorie” meal along Fitness Street in Phuket, all designed with your calorie and macronutrient goals in mind.
Below is a photo collage of six must-visit spots for healthy eats along Fitness Street:
- ‘Breakfast of Champions’ at Mama’s Restaurant
- BBQ Chicken at Mr Jom’s
- Protein Pancakes at Trooper Eats
- Steamed Chicken at Tony’s Restaurant
- Banana Oatmeal at Latte Café
- Keto Pancakes at Pure Prep
One of my absolute favourite post-workout rituals after smashing a session at Unit 27, or Dragon Gym is strolling down to the famous little bamboo protein shake hut to grab a well-deserved post-workout shake. This bamboo hut that serves up protein shakes (just pick the fruit you want added to it) is called “Oops”. You can’t miss it as you are walking down Fitness Street toward Unit 27 or Tiger Muay Thai.
Below is another photo collage showcasing six more must-try spots on Fitness Street:
- ‘Steak Chicken’ at Latte Café
- ‘Buddha Bowl’ at Filling Station
- ‘The Best Chicken’ at Trooper Eats (I’ll admit, I’ve forgotten its name on the menu, but it’s incredible!)
- Protein Ice Cream at Ali’s BBQ (you must try this one!)
- Everything on the menu at Thai Thai, hands-down the best Thai restaurant on Fitness Street
- More Protein Pancakes at Trooper Eats (yes, they’re that good 😊)
At least once a week, I treat myself to the famous protein pancakes at Trooper Eats, right on Fitness Street. For just 199 Baht, they’re an absolute steal—and look at how delicious they are:
Let me know if you decide to come down to Trooper Eats, I might see you down there!
Cocoville Restaurant
For a taste of healthy eating on Fitness Street, Cocoville’s ‘Raw Fitness Menu’ (pictured below) is a prime example of what clean eating is all about. Packed with the healthiest options you can imagine, it’s got everything from egg-white omelettes to protein oatmeal pancakes—with a dollop of peanut butter on the side. It’s the ultimate menu for gym-goers looking to fuel their training and recovery with indulgences that won’t derail their goals.
While I don’t usually stay at Cocoville—it can be a bit pricey for a long-term stay—I’ll often make my way to their restaurant to enjoy some of their standout dishes. My go-to favourites include:
- The ‘Chunky Monkey’ Protein Shake (you have to try it!)
- Banana & Cranberry Oatmeal Pancakes (with peanut butter, of course!)
- Brown Rice Oatmeal Pancakes
- Three Egg-White Omelette
It’s the perfect spot to refuel after a morning of smashing workouts, and the food never disappoints. I frequently order the 3 egg-white omelette as it serves to help me hit my protein intake for the day while training out here. This is what it looks like and where to find it on the menu:
Let’s explore one of my favourite places to eat along Fitness Street. Pure Prep…
Pure Prep: The Ultimate Health-Focused Meal Prep Spot
Pure Prep is a top-notch meal prep service and café in Phuket, Thailand, dedicated to serving nutritious, calorie-counted meals tailored to various dietary preferences, including Paleo, Keto, and Vegetarian.
I can’t get enough of Pure Prep! As an amateur athlete who’s meticulous about tracking calories and macros to fuel my training, I usually stock up with 10 meals at a time – enough to last me 2-3 days. Here’s a sneak peek at their “chicken” menu (they also offer vegan, vegetarian, keto, and beef options):
These meals come in at around 300-500 calories each, with a full macro breakdown provided, making it a breeze to stay on track if you’re working towards fat loss. And the best part? They’re incredibly affordable, priced at just 150 Baht per meal – much cheaper than what you’d pay back home for something similar!
One visit, I picked up these tasty options:
- BBQ Pulled Chicken with Mash & Veg – 145 Baht
- Pesto Pasta with Grilled Chicken & Parmesan – 145 Baht
- Chicken Panang with Brown Rice – 140 Baht
Total? Only 430 Baht – that’s about $20 AUD for three delicious, healthy meals! Below is a snapshot of my order, so you can see for yourself.
If you’re heading to Phuket with a goal of losing weight, remember: it’s all about balance. A common mistake is under-eating while pushing through 2-3 fitness classes a day in a desperate rush to shed fat. Don’t do it! You’ll end up miserable and potentially injured. Instead, aim to consume 0.6 to 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight daily and stick to one class, 4-5 days per week.
And while you’re at it, swing by Pure Prep and try their meals – you won’t be disappointed! Find them on Instagram here.
Tony’s Restaurant
Thai Thai Restaurant
As you stroll down Fitness Street, you’ll inevitably come across this little gem of a Thai restaurant—Thai Thai. This charming, no-frills spot is one of the most affordable and authentic Thai eateries along the strip.
While I don’t dine here every day (I like to keep my meals high in protein), visiting Thailand wouldn’t be complete without indulging in some local cuisine.
The heart and soul of this place is the Thai lady I fondly call my “Thai Mum.” She works tirelessly in the kitchen, crafting some of the freshest and most authentic Thai dishes you’ll ever taste.
Every visit begins with a fresh coconut—my go-to for replenishing electrolytes after a tough day of training. It’s a refreshing kickstart to the feast ahead. This will cost you around 40 Baht.
Here’s what I typically order at Thai Thai (and what I highly recommend you try!):
- Thai egg omelette
- Morning Glory
- Thai papaya salad (so refreshing!)
- Mango sticky rice (an absolute must—though Thai Mum will only whip it up if she’s got fresh mangos!)
This is what it looks like…
If you’re training hard on Fitness Street, this is the perfect spot to refuel and soak up some local flavour.
Ali’s BBQ Protein Ice Cream
This deserves a special shoutout as it’s, quite possibly, the best protein ice cream you’ll find on Fitness Street—and yet, hardly anyone seems to know about it! Personally, I make a point of heading down to Ali’s BBQ about once a week to grab a protein ice cream as a well-earned treat after a tough week of training.
Here are the flavour options:
My personal favourite? The vanilla Oreo flavour—absolutely delicious! 😊 This is what they look like, and trust me, you’ve got to try them if you’re coming out here to train.
Supermons Fruit Bar
One of my favourite places on Fitness Street to grab fresh fruit after an intense 2-hour Muay Thai or K1 kickboxing session is Supermons! This little gem is perfect for a pre-training protein shake—just choose any of the fruit on the counter or hanging from the ceiling—or dive into their fridge, packed with fresh tropical fruit.
Below is a photo of what this charming hole-in-the-wall fruit shake hut looks like:
Now, I’m not a big fruit eater back home, but after a tough Muay Thai session, I find that mango, watermelon, or papaya really helps with recovery. Back in Australia, papaya and mango are pretty pricey, so I always take full advantage of the affordable and fresh tropical fruits while I’m here in Thailand. If you’ve never tried dragon fruit before, you absolutely have to—it’s a must on Fitness Street, and you can grab it from Supermons as well.
For me, if I need quick energy after a gruelling training session, I’ll swing by Supermons, raid their “fruit fridge” (pictured below), and stock up on a bunch of fruit. I also like to have some fruit 30 to 60 minutes before an intense workout to help fuel my training.
Supermons is a real lifesaver, and if you’re training on Fitness Street, you’ve got to give it a try!
Fitness Street Accommodation
I spent several days personally visiting every accommodation on and around Fitness Street to gather the latest monthly pricing information for you. Please note that you’ll need to convert these prices from Thai Baht to your local currency. As of December 2024 (the high season), these prices are likely to be double the amounts listed!

My Favourite Resorts
My top three resorts, which I call “The Three Cocos” (Cocoville, Coco Paradiso, and Coco Retreat), are all conveniently located near Fitness Street. Cocoville is situated on a side street off Fitness Street, just an 8-to-10-minute walk from the renowned Unit 27 and Tiger Muay Thai gyms. Coco Paradiso and Coco Retreat are located on the adjacent street, about a 15–20-minute walk away.
If you’d like to watch a video where I review these three amazing resorts, check it out here:
There are many accommodation options located either on Fitness Street or on a nearby side street. It’s essential to book a place along Fitness Street unless you plan to rent a scooter for daily travel. One of the biggest mistakes I made when I first arrived was booking accommodation that was a 40-minute walk from Tiger Muay Thai. To make matters worse, I had to cross the main highway, which is extremely dangerous.
If I’m staying on Fitness Street for several months or longer, I prefer more affordable, long-term accommodation. My personal favourites for extended stays are 2home and Six Pack Cottage (co-located and run by the same manager). If you’re curious, here’s a quick room tour of where I stayed for three months. This was my room at 2home where I was paying $13 AUD per night.
If you’re looking for affordable long-term accommodation on Fitness Street, check out the video below. I’ll show you Sawasdee Villa and Khaonoi Bungalow. If you are still struggling to find budget accommodation in the high season (which is right now!), then I suggest Oyo, Baan Khun Yui, or Little Hill Resort. All three of these places are located on the same side-street to Fitness Street.
